Competition Rules

The following shall be the Competition Rules for the Wiltshire & District Federation and Bristol & District Federation Cup Competitions.

1) Each entry shall be the Competitors own work.
2) All entries to be of nine sheets.
3) Each member to be entitled to submit only one entry for each cup:

a) Garland Cup – General Philately
b) Gaffen Cup – Thematic
c) Manning Memorial Cup – Postal History
d) Aerophilately Trophy
e) Gaffen Cinderella Cup
f) Junior Cup – Any Subject (for Junior members only)
The Robson Lowe Centenary Silver Salver will be awarded to the best of the Cup winners listed above.

4) Winner and runner-up of each of the above competitions listed in Rule No. 3 must be prepared to submit their entries forward to the Wiltshire/Bristol & District Federation Convention competitions for which they are eligible. The judging of cup entries listed in Rule No. 3 will be by a non-member or more than one non-competing member of the society, based on the following percentages:

Cinderella Cup

The Cinderella class is intended primarily for adhesive-like issues or cachets by Governments or private organisations for receipt, advertisement, fiscal or other non-postal purposes, whether loose or on postal or non-postal documents, et cetera. Rarity does not arise as a consideration, although commoner items might not lead to good marks under ‘Originality’. Other items, such as view-cards and associated explanatory material, are permissible but should not occupy the equivalent of more than about two of the nine pages.

WILTSHIRE FEDERATION16 PAGE COMPETITION

The 16 page competition will be held in conjunction with the Society’s A.G.M. and the following rules will apply:

  1. 5)  Each entry shall be the competitor’s own work and he/she must be prepared to submit the entry forward to the Wiltshire Federation 16 page competition.
  2. 6)  Entries to be of 16 sheets and may be General Philately, Postal History, Thematic, Cinderella or Aerophilately.
  3. 7)  Each member to be entitled to only one entry.
  4. 8)  The entries shall be judged by a non-member or more than one non-competing member of the society based on the percentages shown in the Federation Competition Rules.
  5. 9)  The winner shall be awarded the Stanley Gibbons Trophy.
